About the College
The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario is the organization established by the provincial government to oversee the practice of occupational therapists in Ontario. The College is responsible for protecting the public interest by setting standards for practice and having programs in place to see that occupational therapists practice safely and effectively.
The Mission
The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) is a self-governing body that protects the public interest and improves their health and well-being by registering, regulating, and supporting the ongoing competency of Occupational Therapists.
The Vision
By 2010, COTO is recognized and respected for its strong collaborative relationships that influence Ontario's Health-care system while supporting the needs of the public through the occupational therapy profession.

- Public Notice of Data Collection
- Collection of data for the Allied Health Database The allied health regulatory Colleges will be expanding their collection of personal information about their members, including basic demographic, geographic, education and employment information, and providing this information to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in anonymized form, for health human resources planning.
- Authority for the collection of data for the Allied Health Database Under section 36.1 of the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA), the Ministry can request that regulatory colleges collect information, including personal information, from their members, and that this information be provided to the Ministry of Health and Long - Term Care. The RHPA provisions authorize the Ministry to collect this information from the Colleges, and use and disclose it, only for the purpose of health human resources planning, which means ensuring the sufficiency and appropriate distribution of health providers.
