Inquiries, Complaints and Reports
The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario is responsible for regulating the practice of occupational therapy in accordance with legislation known as the Regulated Health Professions Act 1999. One key role of the College is to consider concerns and complaints regarding an occupational therapist and their practice. Concerns can be identified by any member of the public; including clients, colleagues, and employers. In the public interest, the College has a responsibility to give serious consideration to each matter, ensuring a fair and just process. The College's inquiry, complaints and reporting processes are intended to provide reasonable assurance that all occupational therapists in Ontario practice safely and competently. The investigations and resolutions processes are only one method by which the College facilitates good practice.
If unsure of the quality or appropriateness of the care received, individuals may wish to contact the College's Practice Resource Consultant prior to filing a complaint with the College.
If you have any questions regarding the College's Investigations & Resolutions processes, please contact the Manager, Investigations & Resolutions.
