Fitness to Practise

The Fitness to Practise Committee is a hearings committee which receives referrals from the College's Executive Committee. Cases are referred to the Fitness to Practise Committee when the Executive Committee believes that the therapist is suffering from a condition, illness or ailment that is affecting their ability to practice and that there is no other recourse that would address the concerns that they have with regards to a therapist's ability to manage their practice. A Fitness to Practise hearing is generally closed to the public. At the conclusion of the hearing where there has been a finding made, the Committee will impose a penalty which may include some or all of the following: a reprimand, terms, conditions and limitations on a therapist's certificate of registration, and/or the suspension or revocation of a therapist's certificate of registration.

To date, the College has not held a Fitness to Practise hearing.
