Professional Practice

The College endeavors to support occupational therapists by developing tools and resources relevant to professional practice. These can take the form of published standards, guidelines, guides and position statements.

Practice Resource Service

The Practice Resource Program provides a tangible link between the College and registrants, the public, other professionals, organizations and occupational therapy students. This service is provided via telephone or e-mail in response to questions about the practice of Occupational Therapy in Ontario. Objectives of the Practice Resource Service are:
  • To address, via telephone or e-mail, practice questions that registrants, the public, other professionals, organizations and students have about the practice of occupational therapy.
  • To assist registrants to connect with resources and understand the correlation between their practice scenario/question and the standards and expectations of the profession and, as required, by the Regulated Health Professions Act and other legislation and/or regulations.
  • To facilitate registrants in their conscious decision-making process through resources and information that supports, but does not replace, clinical and professional judgment.
  • To serve as a College resource to communicate practice information that influences Occupational Therapy practice in Ontario.
How the practice resource service works

Anyone with a question about the practice of Occupational Therapy in Ontario can:
