Thinking about practising in Ontario? We're here to help.

Occupational therapists already registered in another province can register in Ontario.

If you are in Ontario and want to start work prior to registering with COTO, you can do so by completing the As of Right Attestation form.

If you are planning to register with COTO in the future and want to apply to register now, you can do so by completing the Labour Mobility Support Agreement (LMSA) Confirmation Form.

What’s the difference?

As of Right (as of January 1, 2026)

Applicants can begin work immediately once physically present in Ontario and have received authorization to practice from COTO. Applicants under this pathway have six months to complete their registration application.

Labour Mobility

Applicants can complete their registration application with COTO now and begin work once they are registered to practice.
