Welcome to the College’s New President and Council Members

As we move into a new season, we wanted to take a moment to welcome our new President and the Council members who joined us earlier this year.

Jeannine Girard-Pearlman, President
On April 7, 2020, Jeannine Girard-Pearlman was elected Council President.

After obtaining a baccalaureate in Nursing and a degree in Health Administration, Jeannine spent over three decades as a senior hospital executive in a Toronto teaching hospital. 

In addition to her role of Council President, Jeannine is currently Chair for both the Executive and Patient Relations Committees. Jeannine has been a Public Member of the College since 2014, other committees she’s been involved with include:  Registration, Discipline, Quality Assurance and Governance committees.

Evelyn Chau, Public Member
Evenly Chau started her 1-year team as a Public Member at the College on April 24, 2020. In addition to her role on Council, Evelyn currently serves on the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee. Evelyn is a communications professional, who has worked with CBC radio, written for magazines and is a published book author. Currently, Evelyn consults and coaches in the area of mental performance.

Michael Dauncey, Public Member
Michael Dauncey began his 1-year term as a Public Member at the College on May 13, 2020 as a member of Patient Relations Committee. Currently, Michael is the Corporate Director of Health and Safety for Mattamy Homes. Michael also sits on the Board of Directors for both Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA) and Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga.

Sophie Xu, Public Member
Sophie Xu is a member of two committees at the College, the Quality Assurance Committee and the Fitness to Practise Committee. Sophie began her 1-year term as a Public Member at the College on April 24, 2020. Sophie has a master’s degree in Corporate Communications from Ithaca College.  After completing her graduate program, she worked for social service organizations for many years. Presently, Sophie is a Flight Attendant with Air Canada.


The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario is accountable to the public through its Council. The Council sets the strategic and policy direction for the College.
