The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) is seeking two professional committee appointees to serve on the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee (ICRC).

The ICRC plays a critical role in protecting the public by reviewing concerns about an occupational therapist’s practice that are brought to the College’s attention. Committee members contribute their professional knowledge, judgment and experience to support fair, consistent and transparent decision-making.

Who Should Apply

We welcome applications from occupational therapists who meet the competency expectations outlined in COTO’s Board Competency Framework and who bring the following additional skills and experience:

Ability

  • Lived experience accommodating or navigating a range of physical, mental health, or cognitive abilities.
  • Insight into how this lived experience can support thoughtful, informed decisions that prioritize public protection.

Standards and Professional Ethics

  • Strong understanding of Ontario’s occupational therapy standards of practice and professional ethics.
  • Ability to identify where a breach—or potential breach—may have occurred.

Health Care Terminology

  • Familiarity with common terminology, acronyms and language used across the health-care system.

Eligibility Criteria

We are specifically seeking occupational therapists who:

  • Reside or practise in District 1 (Toronto/Peel) or District 3 (Ottawa/Kingston)and
  • Have experience in one or more of the following practice areas:
    • Capacity assessments/assessors
    • Pediatrics (particularly in private practice)
    • Home care
    • Auto insurance (working with adults)

Committee members receive a per diem and are reimbursed for related expenses.
