2020-2021 Leadership Outcomes

Committee Competency Framework
The Board approved the adoption of the Committee Competency Framework, which will be available later this year. As is the case with the Board, College Committees should be comprised of individuals who possess the knowledge, skills and experience to discharge their duties effectively. Improving how the College is governed will strengthen our protection of the public and enhance public confidence in the regulatory system.

Refund Policy
A new Refund Following a Resignation policy was approved and is retroactively in effect as of June 1, 2021. This policy allows the Registrar to issue a partial refund, on a pro-rated basis, to occupational therapists who resign their registration after May 31, 2021.

Medical Assistance in Dying
The revised Medical Assistance in Dying document was approved and will be released later this year. Until then, the Guidelines for Medical Assistance in Dying, 2017 remain in effect and are available online under Standards & Resources.

Virtual Services
The Virtual Services document was approved and will be released later this year. Until then, the Guidelines for Telepractice in Occupational Therapy, 2017 remain in effect and are available online under Standards & Resources.

Decision-Making Framework
The Decision-Making Framework, which replaces Conscious Decision-Making in Occupational Therapy Practice, was approved and will be released later this year. Until then, Conscious Decision-Making in Occupational Therapy Practice, 2012 remains in effect and is available online under Standards & Resources.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Key messages for the development of the new practice document on diversity, equity, and inclusion were reviewed and approved by the Board. This document will incorporate registrant feedback from the January 2021 survey, include current literature, and link to the new Competencies for Occupational Therapists in Canada. The document will be created in consultation with subject matter experts in the BIPOC and 2SLGBTQI+ communities, registrants, members of the public and be brought to a future Board meeting for final approval.
