Annual Renewal 2026
All occupational therapists are required to renew or resign their registration online on or before May 31, 2026.
We recommend avoiding renewal on the last day: May 31 is a Sunday and staff will not be available on that day to answer any questions.
Log in to the COTO Portal to complete renewal.
Tips for Successful Renewal
- Renew early to avoid unexpected delays and complete your renewal on time.
- Test your COTO Portal login. If you have forgotten your username or password, please use the option on the login page to reset it.
If you no longer have access to the email on file, contact registration@coto.org with your:- full name
- registration number
- old email and new email address
- Confirm renewal is complete. You will receive an email to confirm you completed annual renewal.
You can also verify your registration status on the public register (List of Registered Occupational Therapists). Check your registration history expiry date. An expiry date of May 31, 2027, signifies a successful renewal.

Renewal Fees
The renewal fees for 2026 are:
- $788.63 – Certificate of Registration
- $113 – Late payment fee
A late fee is applied to renewals after May 31.

What happens if you don’t renew or resign by the May 31st deadline?
If you do not renew or resign your registration by May 31, 2026, you will receive a notice advising that your registration will be suspended for non-payment of fees if the required fees are not paid to the College within 30 days.
Taking a Leave or Resigning
If you will not be practising as an occupational therapist or using the title occupational therapist (OT) in Ontario after May 31, you may choose to resign your registration.

- To resign, log in to the COTO Portal and complete the resignation form.
Keep in mind:
- If you resign, you cannot practice as an occupational therapist or use the title occupational therapist, OT, or OT Reg. (Ont.) in Ontario until you are re-registered with the College.
- If you remain registered while on leave, you must still:
- Maintain professional liability insurance.
- Complete Quality Assurance requirements.
- Meet all other professional obligations.
Tax Receipts
Official tax receipts will be available in the COTO Portal at a later date.
In the meantime, you will receive a payment confirmation email upon paying the renewal fee. If needed, COTO’s HST number is: 137092417 RT0001
Tax receipts are not mailed. When it’s ready, your tax receipt for the registration renewal fee can be accessed by logging in to the COTO Portal.
Reminder: Keep your information current
You are required to update your employment and personal information on file with the College within 30 days of a change.
