Ontario Health Updates on Quality Standards – Dementia

Ontario Health has updated two quality standards: Dementia: Care for People Living in the Community (originally published in 2018) and Behavioural Symptoms of Dementia: Care for People in Hospitals and Long-Term Care Homes (originally published in 2016). The updates align with the most up-to-date clinical evidence and current practice in Ontario.

Keeping accurate and timely records is an essential step in ensuring safe and effective patient care. Record keeping is a part of an occupational therapist’s accountability and part of the employer’s accountability too.

Unfortunately, the College has seen an increasing trend of occupational therapists being terminated for a lack of record keeping.
