Directive 2 Updated and College Guidance for Return to Work

On May 26, 2020, Directive #2 from Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health was revoked and replaced. The new Directive #2 authorizes the beginning of the gradual restart of deferred, non-essential and elective services. As always, public safety remains the priority. There are necessary preconditions to this Directive that all health professionals must meet, including compliance with operational requirements such as enhanced screening and use of personal protective equipment.

Please review Directive #2 and the COVID-19 Operational Requirements: Health Sector Restart.

To assist with the restart of services, we have developed guidance for occupational therapists who may not receive additional guidance from their organization or employer, for example, occupational therapists who are self-employed or working in private practice clinics and facilities.

Please take time to review the material and contact [email protected] or 1-800-890-6570 ext.240 with any questions. Information continues to evolve so this guidance may change.

The College expects occupational therapists working with organizations such as hospitals or home and community care to follow their sector-specific guidance.

We will continue to notify you of government changes and regulatory requirements via e-mail updates and our website and encourage you to regularly visit the Ministry websites. If you have any questions, please contact the College at [email protected].
